Alaya Yu - Modern Shaman & Artist & Ceremony Designer
My Story
Born in Shanghai, China
Studies in London, UK

Through making contemporary artwork, I explore to reflect the connotation of Buddha dharma for three years, which is upon pains among human being, from the pain of birth, aging, illness and death, the pain from the emotions and the pain of being persistent.

From learning philosophy, psychology, astrology, human history, hypnosis, Akashic records, western occultism, geometric symbolism, parapsychology, psychedelic, traditional Chinese medicine, Tao, Shaman course and having some particular healing and transcendental experiences, I was entirely recovered from the past trauma and previous life. A 6-year odyssey. The mysticism and ancient wisdom of the world, especially Shaman culture and spirits, is my profound interest.
My artwork is a ceremony, a ritual, a celebration, a funeral, or a combined all kinds of different materials of mandala. Five senses sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch are full of the whole process. Audiences are always welcomed to participate to meditate and observe. Meditating in the sacred atmosphere helps us connect with our inner souls, nature mother and the one, universe.
